I had a little time this morning, so I decided to head over to Hahamongna Watershed Park by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and do a little birding. I parked on the west side of the park, an area that was formerly called “Oak Grove Park”, proceeded southward over Devil’s Gate Dam, then north on the east side (stopping at a small patch of water that was active with birds), and west again near JPL. The total distance walked was about 3.75 miles. I observed 38 species. Unfortunately, the only one of those species that was relatively exciting was a far away flyover: a small flock of American White Pelicans that circled against the San Gabriel Mountains. They were too far away to get a photograph.
